We regret to inform you of the recent passing of retired Cpl. James Joseph Lions on February 6, 2025. Lynn’s served the MSP for twenty-five years.
OBITUARY
James (Jim) Joseph Lyons, 80, of Stevensville, MD died at his home on Thursday, February 6, 2025. Jim was born in Lackawanna, NY, July 5, 1944 and was the son of the late Joseph Patrick and Irma Elizabeth (Ruesch) Lyons. Jim survived his parents and his sister, Mary Elizabeth Bakersmith.
Jim was a veteran that served six years in the U.S. Army Reserves as a Sergeant in the Military Police. Concurrently, Jim served with the Maryland State Police and retired after a distinguished 25 year career, last serving in the Executive Protection Division.
He enjoyed spending his time going to Assateague Island and Chincoteague Beach with his camper and traveling south to Florida during the winters.
SERVICES
A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, 106 Shamrock Road, Chester, Maryland 21619 at 3:00 pm on Friday, February 28, 2025.
Interment will be private at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, MD placed with his parents.
