It is with deep regrets that we report the loss of retired TFC William “Bill” Morgan Moore, age 86. Moore passed away on July 17, 2024.
OBITUARY
William “Bill” Morgan Moore, 86, of Elkton, MD passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. Born in Oakland, MD on January 30, 1938, he was the son of the late John and Elogeanne Aronhalt Moore.
Bill was a proud U.S. Navy veteran and retired Maryland State Trooper First Class, who had served the Maryland State Police with distinction until his retirement in 1983. He had been a past president and treasurer of the Kiwanis Club in Elkton, and a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Oakland, MD where he grew up and graduated from Southern Garrett County High School in 1956. Bill was known for his kindness and care for his wife’s Persian cats, and had a love for the outdoors, finding joy in working in his yard.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Claudia McDaniel Moore; his brothers, Rev. J. Samuel Moore, Deer Park, MD, and James R. Moore (Marcia), Mountain Lake Park, MD; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces.
Funeral service with Military Honors was held, Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 12 PM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Singerly Fire Company, or to Amedisys Foundation, in care of Hicks Home for Funerals, P.A. at the above address.
