TFC Donald Lee Stevens, MDSP, Retired

The MSPAA sadly announces the recent passing of one of “Maryland’s Finest”, TFC Donald Lee Stevens.

Obituary
Donald Lee Stevens, age 76, of Frederick, died on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2022 at Westminster Healthcare Center.

Born March 25, 1946 in Frederick, he was the son of the late Chester George Lee Stevens and Florence Young Stevens.

Donnie was a 1964 graduate of Frederick High School. After graduating he served in the Army Reserves for 6 years. In 1971 he joined the Maryland State Police, working out of the Frederick Barracks as part of the criminal investigation division. He retired in 1995.

Following retirement he started a private investigating business, as well as working as a real estate agent. One of his favorite past-times was duck-pin bowling, also enjoying fishing and crab feasts. Donnie was a well-dressed man, always had a smile and was the life of a party.

He is survived by his twin brother, Warren Stevens and wife Judy of Frederick; grandchildren, Shasta Stevens-Earp and husband Jake Earp of Sharpsburg, Christopher Lee Stevens Jr. of Keymar, Cheryl Thomas of Pennsylvania, and Lillian, Jefferson and Abraham Stevens; special niece, Debbie Stevens; nephew, Timothy Wachter; daughter-in-law, Sherry Few; and several cousins and nephews.

He will be remembered by his devoted friends, Wayne, Marcia and Marvin.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved sons, Christopher Lee Stevens and Jeffrey Allen Stevens; sister, Grace Wachter; brother, Chester R. “Bob” Stevens; niece, Theresa Hoopengardner; nephew, Randy Stevens; and his beloved dog “Midnight”.

Family and friends will be received at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro on Tuesday, Sept. 20 from 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Prospect Cemetery, Mt. Airy.
