We regret to inform you of the recent passing of one of Maryland’s Finest, TFC Albert Wayne Mynes, MDSP, Retired. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury, MD.
OBITUARY
Albert “Wayne” Mynes, 83, of Hebron, MD, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional. Born on November 15, 1939 in Roanoke, VA, he was the son of the late Albert Delauch Mynes and the late Hazel Virginia Mynes.
Wayne graduated from Brooklyn Park High School in 1957 and the Maryland State Police Academy in 1967 and served as a Maryland State Trooper for many years. His years with the Maryland State Police were some of his proudest, earning the Hero Award and a Governor’s Citation for his courageous acts on the job. He was a member of Rockawalkin Church, Hebron Lions Club, Rockawalkin Ruritan Club, Maryland State Trooper Alumni Association, Antique Car Club and the Sons of the American Legion.
While his family was most important to him, he also loved hunting, the Delmarva Shorebirds, Baltimore Orioles and the Baltimore Ravens. All his family will cherish the beautiful woodworking he did in his younger years through the heirloom pieces he made for each of them.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn “Laverne” Mynes; three children, Brenda M. (Tim) Spindler of Delmar, MD, Cheryl M. Cugle of Harmans, MD and Robert Alan (Dawn) Mynes of Pasadena, MD; six grandchildren, Andy (Kasie) Spindler, Megan (Tom) Spindler, Stacey King, Thomas (Rachel) Cugle, III, Robert W. Mynes and Maria Rose Mynes; three step-grandchildren, Christy (Ryan) Spindler, Becky (Gannon) Neubert, and Tim (Allyson) Spindler, Jr.; thirteen great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Mia, Brianne, Jordan, Gavin, Raven (Tom), Savannah, Emahry, Jonathan, Eliya, Amelia, Lillian and Isabel; a sister-in-law, Trudy Mynes; his caregiver, Kasie Alexander, and his canine companions, Gracie and Frankie.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, John “Bill” Mynes and sister, Brenda Mynes.
SERVICE / VISITATION
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Rockawalkin Church, Hebron, MD. A visitation will be held from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. Pastor Steve Hands will officiate. Interment will take place at Rockawalkin Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rockawalkin Church, 6777 Rockawalkin Road, Hebron, MD 21830.
