The MSPAA sadly announces the recent passing of Patricia Lee Buckland. Pat was a great lady. A true professional and asset to the Maryland State Police.

Obituary
Patricia Lee Buckland, 82, of Westminster, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2023, at the Dove House, after a brief illness. Pat was the cherished wife of David J. Buckland, her husband of 55 years.
Pat was born in Carroll County, Maryland on September 24,1940 to the late Earl Francis and Doris Thelma (Smith) Mann. She was a member of the 1958 graduating class of Westminster High School. Pat worked as an administrative assistant for the Maryland State Police for 38 years. She retired in 2003 after serving as the Administrative Assistant to Colonel David Mitchell, Secretary of the Agency.
Previously, she had served as Administrative Assistant to the late Dr. Frank Kuehn in the Maryland State Police Medical Division.
In addition to her husband, Pat is survived by her daughters, Michelle Buckland of Finksburg; and Julie Buckland and wife, Dee Derden of Albuquerque, NM; two grandchildren, Bea Paskewitz and husband Michael; and Nick Hoffman and wife Kayla; and two great-grandchildren, Owen and Sophia. She also leaves three sisters, Barb Rhine and husband Don; Carol Nelson; and Linda Warren and husband David; a step-daughter, Debra White and husband Steven, and two step-grandchildren, JoAnna and Rachel Hinde.
Pat loved and cherished her husband of more than 55 years, David. She was deeply dedicated to her employer, the Maryland State Police, where she was well-respected and loved. She was incredibly generous, including with her opinion, as well as funny and brilliantly witty. In her retirement, she and Dave took many bus trip tours to various places throughout America.
Pat loved to play bingo, go to casinos, and was a huge fan of anything sweet and music by Elvis. She was incredibly dedicated to the happiness and success of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always worried about them. She absolutely adored her rescued Dachshund, Ruby. Pat contributed many crocheted blankets to Project Linus. Pat had a big personality and is deeply missed already.
In addition to her parents, Pat was predeceased by her brother, Bobby Mann and her first husband, Robert Garland.
Visitation & Services
Pat’s family will welcome friends on Saturday, July 8, 2023, from 12 noon until the beginning of her Memorial Service at 1:15 pm at Deer Park United Methodist Church, 2200 Sykesville Road, Westminster, Maryland. Interment will be private.
