It is with great sadness that we report the loss of one of Maryland’s Finest. Retired Major William Hastings Hurley, 88, Chestertown, Md. passed away on April 22, 2026 Major Hurley was a prominent member of the department. His leadership extended over three decades. He served as the first commander of the Berlin Post handling the responsibility of both Somerset and Worcester Counties.
