Obituary for Michael David Muth
March 16, 1951-September 17, 2023

Michael David Muth, 72, of La Plata, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata.

Born on March 16, 1951 in Ketchikan, Alaska, he was the son of the late Harold Daniel Muth and Doloras Katherine Muth. Mike served as a Trooper for the Maryland State Police and later served with Interpol. He held an Associates’ Degree in Law Enforcement and was a member of the Maryland Trooper’s Association, the National Trooper’s Coalition, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, the Law Enforcement Accreditation Committee, and the Blue Knights MD IV LEMC. He was of the Catholic Faith and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Plata. Mike enjoyed boating, spending time at the beach, and motorcycle riding.

Mike is survived by his wife Deborah S. Muth; children Michael D. Muth, II and his wife Crystal, Heather M. Muth; grandchildren Hailey, Hazel, Anja, Rhett, Marlena, and Harold; siblings Patti (JC) Sterquell, Rick (Linda) Muth, Harold “Doc” (Kathy) Muth; other relatives including Gayle and Steve Bennett, Butch (Henry) and Debbie Bowling, Wayne Bowling, 15 nieces and nephews, 15 great nieces and nephews, many Law Enforcement brothers and sisters.

A visitation will be held on Monday, October 2, 2023 from 5PM until time of Prayers at 7PM at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at 10AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 201 St. Mary’s Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646. Interment will be private. Pallbearers are Michael Muth II, Rick Muth, Harold Muth, Nathan Bennett, Edwin Willie II, and Jeffrey Willie Jr. Honorary Pallbearers are Fred Davis, Steve Bennett, Sam Graves, and Lee Hammonds.
