The MSPAA sadly announces the recent passing of one of “Maryland’s Finest,” Deputy Willard “Sparky” Leonard Pusey, OSFM, Retired.

Willard Leonard “Sparky” Pusey, Jr., 77, of Tyaskin passed away Monday, January 16, 2023 at his home. Born August 11, 1945 he was the son of the late Willard Leonard Pusey, Sr. and Helen Jones Pusey. Sparky was the City Manager for the City of Fruitland and later went on to become Wicomico County Fire Marshal and ultimately retired as Deputy Maryland State Fire Marshal. He was a lifetime member of the West Side Fire Department and a member of the Wicomico County Fire Police. He enjoyed going fishing and watching WWE wrestling.

He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Nadine Pusey; and several cousins and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 12pm at West Side Fire Department, 21045 Nanticoke Rd, Bivalve, MD 21814 where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. A private family interment will be held at a later date in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Chestertown.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Sparky to the West Side Fire Department, PO Box 85, Bivalve, MD 21814.
