On behalf of the MSPAA, we sadly report the loss of one of Maryland’s Finest. Retired Cpl. Dewight Rolley, formerly of the Princess Anne Barrack and currently a Deputy with the Somerset County Sheriffs Office, passed away suddenly on July 5, 2023. Rolley was a great road trooper and supervisor for MSP for many years and retired with honors.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Watson Funeral Home, Salisbury, Md.

Obituary

Deputy First Class Dewight D. Rolley, 72, of Snow Hill, departed this life on Wednesday, July 5, 2023. Born in Maryland, he was the son of the late Annie Rolley and Willie Howard Whittington.

He was a graduate of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES). Rolley also graduated from the Maryland State Police Academy in 1974. He had a distinguished law enforcement career spanning nearly five decades. He served the Maryland State Police, UMES Police Department, and was serving at the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office at the time of his passing.

Loving memories will be cherished by: his wife, Kimberly Ann Rolley; two daughters, Debrina Ann Rolley and Nichelle D. Lucas (Dana); one brother, George Rolley; one brother-in-law, Clinton Richard Tindley, Jr.; one sister-in-law, Francine Morton (Melvin); five grandchildren, Dewayne Heath, Jr., Devonte Mann, Leurecka Matthews, Dana Lucas, Jr., and Dachelle Lucas; three great-grandchildren, Kaden Matthews, Isabele Berthold, and Ivey Rose DeLoache; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Services will be private.
