The MSPAA sadly announces the recent passing of one of “Maryland’s Finest”, Cpl. Philip Edward Sauerwald, MDSP, Retired.
OBITUARY
On March 9, 2023, Philip Edward Sauerwald, beloved husband of the late Evelyn E. Sauerwald (nee White); devoted father of Janet M. Zappardino and her husband Craig and Mark P. Sauerwald and his wife Patty; loving grandfather of Lauren Witte, Anthony Zappardino and his wife Abby, Lisa Sauerwald and her boyfriend Ryan and Todd Sauerwald and his wife Jessica; cherished great grandfather of Wyatt and Adlee Witte.
He served in the U.S. Navy – Korean War Veteran (1951-1955) and was a retired Maryland State Trooper.
VISITATION
Visitation will be held at the family owned Duda-Ruck Funeral Home of Dundalk, Inc., 7922 Wise Ave., Dundalk, Maryland 21222
Monday, 3/13/2023, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
FUNERAL SERVICE
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, 3/14/2023, at 11 AM. Interment, Oak Lawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to the First Christian Church, 2618 North Snyder Ave., Sparrows Point, MD 21219 or to the Hughes Memorial Presbyterian Church, 3010 Sparrows Point Rd., Sparrows Point, MD 21219.
