Obituary
John C. Bowman, age 80, of Edgewood, Maryland passed away on February 21, 2023 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of John C. Bowman Jr. and Agnes (Cohee) Bowman.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a life member of the USS Forrestal.

He was a Maryland State Trooper and spent most of his career in the Bel Air Barrack in one function or another. John was a member of MSP Alumni Association, Lodge #96 MD Troopers Association, Past President of Lodge #15 Maryland Troopers Association and Past President of the International Association for Identification-Chesapeake Bay Division.

He was a football announcer for Edgewood High School for 20 years and an inductee of the Hall of Fame for Edgewood High School. He also was the announcer on Christmas Eve for Santa being tracked for his arrival in Maryland.

John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janet Bowman; son, James M. (Rebecca) Bowman; daughter, Juanita M. (John) Leiders; and 2 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael J. Bowman.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the MD chapter of American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
